# When a release may change an answer

## Answer checks

After a release is written, Cactus checks earlier answers in customer Messenger and Help Center threads that cited a changed Help Center page. It checks the changed sections the answer cited, compares what they said when the answer was given with what they say now, and assesses whether relying on the answer could lead the customer to do something wrong or miss something they need to know. If Cactus judges the answer may mislead, it adds a note beneath it in the customer's thread saying the help page changed in the release and asking the customer to ask again for the current answer. The original answer stays intact.

## Turn off notices

This setting is on by default.

1. In Messenger settings, turn off **Tell people when a release changes an answer they were given**.

> Cactus still checks the answers and records its verdicts.
